Announcement of Policy change from  The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council ANMC - with effect from 1 July 2009 .

The applicant must achieve a score of 7 in all four areas of the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

The applicant must achieve this score at a single sitting and the test must have been completed within the last two years.

The applicant must organise for documentary evidence of the test outcome to be supplied directly to the regulatory authority.

The above standard applies to all internationally-qualified nurses and midwives regardless of their country of origin with the exception of New Zealand with whom Australia has a Trans Tasman Mutual Agreement. This decision brings Australia into line with the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
