IELTS Results

You should know that there is no pass or fail in IELTS. You are graded on a 9-band system and every educational institution, international employer and country has their own minimum IELTS scores to meet their respective requirements. IELTS test results for all sections are provided separately. Mostly, an average of 6.5, with a band score above or equal to 6 in each of the 4 sections, is welcomed by most institutions and countries.

Depending on the type of IELTS test you’ve taken, your result will be announced accordingly. Here’s a quick glimpse:

Paper-based test Your results will be available in 13 days after you complete your IELTS.
Computer-delivered IELTS Your results will be available in 3 to 5 days after your test date.
IELTS for UKVI Your results will be available in 13 days after your test date.
IELTS for Life Skills Your results will be available within 7 days after the test date.

Do note that you will receive only one copy of your result (TRF), or two copies if you are also applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). You can ask the test centre to post the results to you, or if convenient, pick the results from the centre in person.

You can also view your result online.

What is Test Report Form (TRF)?

A copy of your IELTS result is known as the Test Report Form (TRF). Each candidate is issued only one IELTS test report form, which is valid for two years. You will only receive one copy of your TRF, unless you are applying to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), or the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA) – in this case, you can receive two. Enquiry on Results (EOR)

You can apply for a re-mark, known as an Enquiry on Results (EOR), at your test centre within six weeks of the test date. You must pay an enquiry fee, which will be fully refunded if your band score changes.
