Previously, they needed a 6.0 score in each skill, but now they only need an overall band score of 6.0.

What changes have been made to the SDS study permit requirement?

Previously, IELTS Academic test takers needed to score 6.0 in all skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking). But now, you only need an overall band score of 6.0 to be eligible for SDS.

When will the SDS changes be implemented

The changes to SDS will come into effect on 10th August 2023. Starting from this date, you can apply for SDS with an overall 6.0 score on IELTS Academic. However, you don't need to wait until that date to take your IELTS test . Your IELTS test results are valid for up to 2 years, so you can use your old test results to apply for the SDS study permit from 10th August onwards.
