The IELTS test is available in two formats - IELTS on computer and Paper-based IELTS tests. Both formats allow you to choose between the Academic or General Training test.
If you prefer typing to writing, you can select IELTS on computer exam for the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections, while the Speaking test will remain a face-to-face interaction with a certified IELTS examiner. It is offered up to 3 times a day, 7 days a week, giving you greater flexibility and convenience.
The paper-based IELTS exam is a more traditional option; some test-takers may prefer it. IELTS test dates are offered up to 4 times a month, totalling 48 fixed test dates in one calendar year. The availability of IELTS dates in India may differ for the Academic and General Training modules. While the Academic module is available on all 48 dates, the General Training module is available on 24 dates. Tests are mostly held on Saturdays and Thursdays to create flexibility and convenience.
The IELTS test is conducted in a single session, and the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are completed together. The Speaking section is conducted on a separate day, up to 7 days before and/or after the test date.
The IELTS exam dates and times vary depending on the city where you take the test. The exam fee is the same for both IELTS on computer and paper-based tests. In India, the IELTS exam fee is INR 16,250.

I had a great experience in IDP IELTS test centre. The place is great and infrastructure is very good. The test centre has a locker facility and excellent computers with a good pair of headphones. The seats are comfortable... You don't feel the strain of sitting through a 2 and a half hour test. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
I would suggest everyone to book IELTS exam at Ludhiana’s Computer-delivered test centre particularly because staff here is extremely helpful and friendly. Centre is also very beautiful and quiet, with all the facilities. There is no long queues of students as in pen-paper based exam for registration.
New Delhi’s Rajouri Garden CD IELTS test center is well maintained. It has nice and silent environment which was very helpful to maintain my concentration during the test. All the staff members are friendly. They provided proper instructions and answer politely if you ask any kind of queries.
